Wolf Kesh (M.A.) is the founder of Essentrism. The philosophy of Essentrism has at its center the belief that the reality of being human is concealed by the veil of appearances. Only after the veil of the so called "reality" is lifted are we privy to the essence of reality; the essence of being, the essence of consciousness which consists of what REALLY matters: the spirit, thoughts and emotions; in other words: the substance behind the appearance. As Essentrist Wolf expresses his artistic vision through contemporary figurative paintings created in mixed media on canvas. Wolf Kesh rejects the notion of an artist competing with a camera (In the era of Internet, audio, video and cell phones everybody can be / is a master at creating superficial images.); being a slave to narrowly defined stylistic criteria; or creating works of abstract. Our lives and relationships demand other qualities than appearance. Abstract - which represents chaos - is a threat to our need for order and harmony. Last but not least, in a world that is organized to the point of the absurd, it is the responsibility of an an artist (who by definition is a symbol of personal liberty) to express the deeper truth which would otherwise remain unspoken. As Essentrist Wolf Kesh transcends the superficial surface of things to explore individual substance and collective essence that's invisible to the naked eye and immune to intrusions of technology. The very essence that can not be weighted or measured. Essentrism makes the intangible - that reflects us way more accurately than appearance - tangible. Wolf Kesh' goal as an artist is to communicate and connect with his audience (without formal stylistic constraints) through his own unique vision of the world. Essentrism makes it easy: you don't need to be an art expert or an art snob to appreciate his work. Wolf Kesh' art is a proof that a work of art doesn't have to be repulsive to convey meaning, just the opposite: in his work artistic merit, philosophical (or spiritual) insight and visual appeal co-exist. His philosophy of Essentrism, unique artistic vision, harmonious shades, and his trademark lavish textures are a feast for the eyes, food for thought, and an opportunity to ponder life's larger questions.
Not surprisingly, Wolf Kesh' paintings are a part of over 2,000 private and corporate collections in the United States, Europe, Australia and even South Africa. His art is gaining critical acclaim; it is highly valued by European art collectors and is gracing the walls of several major Hollywood celebrities, including Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. |

"Wolf Kesh' daring return
to aesthetics in art; his commitment to contemporary figurative painting;
and his Essentrist emphasis on substance and essence as opposed to
superficiality make him an important presence on today's art scene. His
is definitely the kind of art that's easy to relate to; art that's easy to
love; art that's easy to live with! Wolf Kesh' timeless legacy is destined
to enrich generations to come." Editor of L.A. Scene (formerly Cultural Events in Los Angeles Magazine) |
